SUDECU – Second Parent Workshop!

At the Youth Center “Matično” in Skopje, we held the second parent workshop within the SUDECU project. The aim of the workshop was for parents to understand the peer approach, to learn how to independently lead discussion groups, to reflect on their own experiences, to explore educational topics in a democratic society, to become familiar with models of parent organizations from Switzerland, and to formulate their own vision for the future development of their parent group. We extend our sincere gratitude to Lynette Sue-ling Gremli and Christian Dietrich, who joined the online part of the workshop and explained how such parent groups function in Switzerland, sharing their valuable experience.  The workshop was led by Dr. Nadine Ritzer, Prof. Dr. Maja Raunik Krikov, and Ms. Séverine Chuffart Balmer (SCU). Many thanks to all participants for their active engagement and constructive discussions. The SUDECU program is supported by PHZH International Projects in Education and funded by Kanton Zürich

“SUDECU” activities continue to be intensively implemented in Kriva Palanka, Kumanovo, and Skopje

“SUDECU” activities continue to be intensively implemented in Kriva Palanka, Kumanovo, and Skopje! Currently, the following parent-led projects are being implemented: Cooking with a Cause and Goal The project has a social theme — joint cooking sessions with parents-peers to prepare specific types of food together with users of the day center, followed by donating the prepared meals to the Day Center for Elderly People with Active Aging – Kriva Palanka and the Day Center for People with Disabilities – Kriva Palanka. The goal of the project is to raise awareness about proper and healthy nutrition for better overall health. “His Own Master” A project for parents that builds bridges between generations and different abilities. The project encourages us to learn new skills together, cook homemade noodles, and spend time with our elderly citizens and people with special needs. “Pensioners – a Bridge Between Youth and Tradition” The idea of this project is to preserve tradition and cultural heritage and pass it on to new generations, while also providing support to the elderly and improving their quality of life. The project also aims to encourage peer learning, sharing knowledge and experiences, and finding positive solutions to similar challenges faced by parents. SUDECU Activities in Kriva Palanka!

As part of the SUDECU program, two important projects are currently being implemented in Kriva Palanka: “Cooking with a Cause and Goal” – a project for parents, where peer educators, together with the Red Cross of Kriva Palanka and the Day Center for the Elderly with Active Aging, carried out a joint activity: preparing traditional fruit compote (winter preserves). “For a Better Future” – a project for youth, where peer educators, with the support of Europe House Kriva Palanka, installed a bee hotel in the urban part of the town – in the courtyard of Europe House. A great example of a youth-led eco-initiative contributing to a sustainable environment. Through these projects, we learn that peer education is key to building a democratic, responsible, and sustainable community. Building trust starts with talking!

Building trust starts with talking! When parents come together to share what’s really on their minds, they create space for understanding, respect, and support. These parent discussion groups remind us that we don’t have to face challenges alone — and that real change often begins with a simple, honest conversation.
